### How it works

Browser calling uses WebRTC, the audio standard built into every current browser, to connect a website visitor to one of your agents without a phone line in between. The visitor clicks Call on your page, allows the microphone, and the agent hears them a second later.
For financial websites this matters because research, IPO notes and fund pages are mostly read on laptops, where a phone number in the header can't be clicked into a call.

### What's included

- Works in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile.
- Microphone permission is requested only after the click, with a one-line explanation.
- Opus audio with echo cancellation and noise suppression.
- Relay over TLS on port 443 when office or bank firewalls block direct connections.

### Questions about browser calling

#### What does a visitor need for a browser call?

A current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari and a working microphone. Nothing is installed, and no phone number is shown to either side.

#### Does browser calling work on mobile phones?

Yes. CallCeptor's browser calls work in mobile Chrome and Safari. Where an in-app browser blocks the microphone, the widget offers a callback to the visitor's phone instead.

#### Is the audio quality as good as a phone call?

Usually better. CallCeptor uses the Opus codec with echo cancellation and noise suppression, which carries more of the voice than a standard phone line.
