## How to measure the calls your website never answers

A simple way to count missed calls from your website, estimate their value and set a target, without any special tools to start.

Most firms know how many calls they answered. Few know how many they missed, because a missed call leaves no record on a normal phone line.

### Step 1: count what you can

Pull the last 30 days of call logs from your phone provider. Count answered, missed and abandoned calls, and note the hour of each.
Compare the hours with your website traffic by hour. Gaps between traffic peaks and answered calls show where calls are lost.

### Step 2: put a value on a call

Take the share of calls that turn into clients and the average value of a client. Multiply them for a rough value per call. Use your own numbers, not an industry average.
Our missed call cost calculator does this arithmetic in your browser.

### Step 3: set one target

Pick one number to improve, such as the share of website calls answered within 20 seconds. Review it weekly.
A Call button that logs every attempt, answered or not, gives you this number directly.
