Where to place a call button on a financial website

The pages and positions where a call button gets used on broker, AMC and adviser sites, and where it only adds clutter.

A button on every page is easy and rarely best. Visitors call where they have a question.

Start here

Account opening, pricing, product and research pages, and the page just after a form error. These are the places where a question stops a decision.

Header or floating?

A header button is always visible and reads as navigation. A floating button follows the visitor and suits long research pages.

Pick one per page. Two buttons confuse.

Replace the number

Where your phone number is shown as text, swap it for the button and keep the number as a fallback. On a desktop browser the number rarely works as a link.

Measure and move

After two weeks, look at calls per page and move the button toward the pages that produce them.
